Product Overview

Fenix PD35R ACE focuses on how a flashlight behaves each time it is used. A hidden SET button selects one, three, or five brightness levels and can disable strobe, while a tail switch handles momentary or constant light and a neck switch changes output. The replaceable battery and protected charging port support everyday ownership, but peak brightness steps down and the longest quoted runtime belongs to its dimmest setting.

What Stands Out

The owner can simplify the accessible brightness sequence before regular use. The charging collar protects the USB-C port and hides the SET control without requiring an app.

Why It Matters

It shows refinement in a familiar tool: control layout, predictable operation, and replaceable power can matter more than a larger peak-lumen number.

Best For

Walkers, campers, and everyday users who want to configure a straightforward brightness sequence and keep a replaceable-cell light.

Not For

Users seeking sustained peak output, accurate color rendering for inspection, or an extremely short pocket flashlight.

Things to Know

Match the full PD35R ACE name. PD35R, PD35 V3, PD36R ACE, and PD45R ACE are separate models with different controls and specifications.

The 2,000-lumen rating is a peak. Fenix documents thermal and low-voltage stepdown, and exact-model testing shows reduced output during longer operation.

The 720-hour maximum belongs to the 1-lumen Eco setting. Peak output, beam distance, and longest runtime describe different operating conditions.

1Lumen measured low color-rendering performance on its sample and found the SET button small and charging relatively slow. GearJunkie's outdoor review favored the configurable interface, but its performance observations used its own test conditions.

The included rechargeable setup uses a 4,000mAh 18650. Fenix also lists two CR123A cells as compatible power; Turbo and strobe are limited to 1,000 lumens with CR123A cells. Primary cells must not be recharged. Follow the battery and charging instructions for the chosen setup.

Check the local battery package, price, warranty, and service. Keep the charging collar properly closed for weather use and follow the manual's storage and maintenance instructions.
